What is Mountaintop Proclamations?

I wrote a series of daily devotions as a social media post every day since the beginning of the coronavirus lockdown in our state of Virginia. I titled it “Mountaintop Proclamations” based on a verse in the book of Nahum 1:15, which states, “Look, there on the mountains, the feet of one who brings good news, who proclaims peace!”

Sharing my daily inspiration was a way for me to proclaim His peace during the frustrating times of state and nationwide lockdown. It was also a way, not only to help myself cope with the increasing stress that came soon after the quarantine mandate, but also to help my friends and family feel connected somehow. Each day I shared some inspiration that I received from the Lord to instill His peace that passes all understanding so that it would permeate in our hearts and spirits.

Because of how tumultuous the year 2020 continues to be, I decided to make a compilation of these daily devotions in hopes of bringing encouragement to anyone who may read them by realizing that true inner peace, joy, and contentment do not come from the outside of us, but from within. An inspiration to peace! As for me, that which is within as the source of my inner peace and strength is my GOD and His Word alone.
To JESUS be all the glory! Amen!

From the Author of Cecilia of the Sea

I wrote this short fiction novel, Cecilia of the Sea, as a way for me to personally address the issue that currently divides, and unfortunately continues to ravage, our great country. It is this unquenchable, eruptive volcano of cultural prejudices and misunderstandings. Because I am of a minority race, I have been the victim of such, however intentional or unintentionally given. It is most devaluing and dehumanizing to experience. Too often I have been asked what my opinion is over what has been happening in this country. Now, I am finally making my public stand.

This book is my voice, creatively and imaginatively told. Although the content of my work may stir some uncomfortable discussions in the Christian faith community especially because I am an ordained pastor, I purposefully wrote in such a way as to avoid direct mention of GOD or anything relating to my faith. I intended it to be as a modern-day book of Esther, one of the most inspiring books of the Bible, yet the name of GOD is never directly mentioned although His divine sovereignty is evident. This novel is similar in that regard. His sovereignty permeates as I weave it through literary elements and creativity. My hope is that everyone who reads this book will see and understand the motive of my heart which is to bring unity through the bonds of love and forgiveness and to proclaim that GOD is the only source of True Love, for GOD is LOVE.

The inspiration that binds the storyline comes from these verses:

“The heavens declare the glory of GOD;
The skies proclaim the work of His hands.
Day after day they pour forth speech;
Night after night they reveal knowledge.
They have no speech; they use no words;
No sound is heard from them.
Yet their voice goes out into all the earth,
Their words to the ends of the world.
In the heavens GOD has pitched a tent for the sun,
It is like a bridegroom coming out of his chamber;
Like a champion rejoicing to run his course.
It rises at one end of the heavens
And makes its circuit to the other
Nothing is deprived of its warmth.

(Psalms 19: 1-6, NIV)
